Sir Jim Ratcliffe enters the race to buy Manchester United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a lifelong fan of Manchester United. He was interested in buying the club in the summer after reports of the Glazer family looking for an investment came out. Now, a spokesperson confirms he enters the club's takeover race.

, was interested in buying the club in the summer after reports of the Glazer family looking for an investment came out.

In November, the Glazer family announced they were exploring "strategic alternatives", among which was a potential sale of the club. Ratcliffe is aiming to enter the race for the Red Devils. He also owns the Ligue 1 club Nice.

We have formally put ourselves into the process,"

an INEOS spokesperson said.

Jim Ratcliffe also offered £4.25 billion to purchase

Chelsea

, which was denied by the club as they settled to sell the club to Todd Boehly.
