Ancelotti isn’t happy with Real Madrid’s performance despite their Supercopa semi-final victory

Real Madrid beat Valencia on penalties in the Supercopa’s semi-finals, having equalized 1-1 in normal time.

Carlo Ancelotti admits to his team’s shortcomings after they failed to win their Supercopa semi-final clash against

Valencia

in normal time. The Italian tactician conceded that his team was far from their best as the only goal they scored was from a penalty kick that Benzema scored in the first half.

Benzema’s goal was answered immediately after the second half started with Samuel Lino equalizing for Valencia. The game went into extra time and then penalties where Comert and Gaya failed to convert their penalties, handing Real Madrid a victory.

Ancelotti wasn’t happy with the level of performance his team showed, citing the World Cup as one of the main reasons for it.

"It hasn't been a physical problem because in extra time we've done better than them. We're not at the top but it's normal.”

Ancelotti said.

"There are players who started a little while after the World Cup. We've put players who were on the limit like [Ferland] Mendy and [Dani] Carvajal.

"We wanted to reach the final and that's what we've done. It's a different moment from last year but I think we're going to fight hard to win the Super Cup."

"I put the three players with the most experience, the best,"

he added.

"The last one was Vinicius [Junior] and it is better that he did not shoot."

Ancelotti continued by talking about his

Madrid

’s injuries, saying:

"Camavinga has had a blow to the knee, Militao is dizzy and is fine. Lucas has a sprain, that is the most serious. I don't know if he will be in Sunday's game."

Madrid now have to await the Barcelona and Betis clash to see whom they’ll face in the Supercopa final.
