Chelsea owner Todd Boehly vacates Chelsea's sporting director position

Todd Boehly has stepped down from his position as Chelsea’s sporting director

Todd Boehly’s takeover of Chelsea from Roman Abramovic hasn’t been all that smooth with the Blues having a turbulent season despite them being highly active in the transfer market. It now seems Boehly wants to step down from his role as a sporting director so a better suited person can take the job.

Beohly replaced Marina Ganovskaia and Petr Cech as sporting director and has already spent £350m on transfers but he has now vacated his role so Chelsea’s new staff Cristopher Vivell and Winstanley can take his place.

Vivell is a Bundesliga veteran, having worked at RB Leipzig, and will take the role of technical director while Winstanley will be director of global talent and transfers for the club. The two will seemingly handle the club’s recruitment and other responsibilities of a sporting director.

This announcement is unlikely to thwart

Chelsea

’s plans for January as it was reported earlier today that the Blues agreed a deal to bring Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge on a hefty loan deal.
