Pogba backs Ferguson to succeed in modern football with the same staff

Paul Pogba never truly worked under Sir Alex Ferguson but the Juventus star believes that the legendary manager could’ve cut it in today’s football if he had the same players and staff he had back in his coaching days.

Pogba famously had a difficult relationship with Ferguson when he was coming up in Manchester United’s academy which led to him leaving United to join Juventus in 2012. The French World Cup-winner came back to Manchester United years later in 2016 in a then-record transfer fee of £89.3m.

Despite 

complaining about his lack of playing time under Ferguson and the Scottish manager later accusing him of disrespecting the club, the Frenchman has now opened up about Ferguson’s coaching methods, as he told Field of Stories:

“He wasn't doing, it wasn't the coach like you see now with Pep Guardiola that is more talking.

“No, he wasn't like that. I think he had the staff and the players so he didn't need to do that.”

Pogba was then asked about whether Ferguson would succeed or not in this landscape of football to which he replied:

“If he has the staff and people and players (like he did), yes.”

Pogba went on to praise former

teammate Cristiano Ronaldo by saying:

“The discipline of Ronaldo was unbelievable - I've never seen this.

“The discipline is in another level. I see professional players, a lot of players, they're very professional they come early, they all do recoveries and stuff like that. 

“But someone that's been there every single day and doesn't stop - that's Cristiano. Every day! Some days you're like, I'm ok! But he doesn't miss one day. His discipline to do it every single day - this is something”
