FIFA to investigate Salt Bae's antics on the pitch after World Cup final

Salt Bae, the celebrity restaurant owner, whose real name is Nusret Gokce, was pictured holding and kissing the

trophy while celebrating with

players after the World Cup final. Videos have shown he was on the pitch after the final trying to take selfies with Argentina players, including Lionel Messi.

"The original FIFA World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the FIFA World Cup and heads of state,"

FIFA's rules state.

FIFA now has issued a response to questions about Salt Bae's presence on the pitch and admitted that the chef gained undue access.

A spokesperson for FIFA said:

"Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken.”

Salt Bae become famous in 2017 after his technique for preparing and seasoning meat went viral on the internet.

Many celebrities including current and former footballers, like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and David Beckham, have been pictured in Salt Bae’s restaurants. Gianni Infantino also has eaten at his restaurants.

Argentina beat

 on penalties in Sunday’s final to win the World Cup for the first time since 1986.
