Kroos: I've never seen a footballer play so consistently as Messi

Real Madrid star, Toni Kroos, says Lionel Messi deserved to win the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

In the most exciting final in World Cup history, Argentina won its third

World Cup

 title by beating France 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw featuring two goals from Messi and a hat-trick by Kylian Mbappe.

 scored seven goals in this tournament and become the first ever player to win World Cup Player of the Tournament twice as the Argentina captain guided his team to another World Cup glory after 36 years.

Toni Kroos

, who was part of Germany’s team that beat Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final has praised the 35-year-old Messi.

"Leo Messi deserves it. In terms of individual performances at a tournament, I've never seen a footballer play as consistently as this guy. You have to bear in mind that he's never played for clubs that I like, which proves that I'm serious,"

said Kroos on the streaming platform Magenta TV.

Before the 2022 World Cup, reports suggested that Zinedine Zidane would replace Didier Deschamps after the tournament, and Kroos who has played for Zidane believes he is the best possible successor.

"I certainly think that Zinedine Zidane would not only be a good successor, but the best possible successor, but the big question is: What does Didier want?

" Kroos said.

Kroos

recently decided to retire from international football and was not part of Germany's squad that was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage for a second successive tournament.
