Croatia 2-1 Morocco: Dalic delivers for Croatia once again

Two teams that few expected to see at this stage of the World Cup fought each other in a close match for the honor of the third place. Dalic’s men were triumphant in the end, although Morocco didn’t go down easily.

The two teams showed they meant business early on in the game as Croatia’s defensive star Josko Gvardiol scored a super header from an Ivan Perisic in the 7th minute. But Morocco responded immediately as Achraf Dari scores from yet another free-kick 112 seconds after

’s first to level the game.

The two teams kept testing each other throughout the first half but it was in the 42nd minute that Croatia finally breakthrough with a team goal when Livaja found Mislav Orsic in the left corner of Morocco box. Orsic then delivered a curved shot over Bono, who was a few feet in front of his goal, and the ball bounced off of the post and into the goal, making it one of the contenders for the goal of the tournament.

Morocco controlled most of the game in the second half where they had two clear-cut chances from Youssef En-Nesyri, one of which was brilliantly saved by Livakovic at close-range and the other grazing the top of the goal. There were a few incidents where there were questionable decisions from Abdulrahman Al Jassim but the match ended 2-1.

Therefore Luka Modric signs off on his World Cup, and possibly international, career with a finish on the World Cup podium and

becomes the first ever African nation to ever be among the World Cup’s top 4 teams.
