Liverpool interested in signing Athletic Club forward, Nico Williams

Liverpool is thinking about making a move for Athletic Club forward, Nico Williams in the January transfer window.

According to Spanish outlet

fichajes.net

,

Liverpool

is monitoring the situation of

Nico Williams

and will send scouts to watch him in the World Cup.

Reports suggest that Liverpool is considering moving for him in the January transfer window after Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool's directors that he is interested in signing Williams. Williams has a contract with

Bilbao

until 2024 and

fichajes.net

claims that Bilbao wants more than €25m to sell the 20-year-old forward.

Liverpool sold Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino last summer and recently signed Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez but they continue to be linked with more offensive additions.

Williams joined Bilbao’s academy in 2013 and made his first team debut in 2021. He has become a starter for Bilbao this season under Ernesto Valverde. The Spanish player has started in 13 league matches and scored 4 goals this season. Williams has scored 7 goals in 57 matches for Bilbao.

Williams received his first call-up to Spain’s squad for UEFA Nations League last September. He has been included in the 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup and scored his first goal for Spain against Jordan last Thursday.

Spain will begin their World Cup campaign against Costa Rica on Wednesday before facing Germany and Japan.
