Enrique answers fan questions on Twitch ahead of the World Cup

Ahead of the 2022 

 in Qatar, Luis Enrique has opened a Twitch page to interact with supporters during the tournament and on Friday night answered some of the questions from fans.

One of the questions was who is the best Spanish player in history.

Enrique said: 

“Who is the best Spanish player in history? We’ve had some very good ones, but I would go for for Villa, as he is the top scorer in the history of the National Team.

“There are many. Kubala, Raúl, Butragueño, Iniesta, Quini, etc.

“Who would I take from 2010 in this team? Who is better Iniesta or Xavi? Puyol or Pique?

“As he is from the same land as me in Asturias, I would pick Villa to play with Morata.”

Villa and Enrique played alongside each other for Spain between 2002 to 2005. Villa who is Spain's all-time top goalscorer with 59 goals won the World Cup in 2010 and also European Championship in 2008.

Former Barcelona manager Enrique also said If 

 doesn’t win the World Cup, he prefers 

 to win it.

“I think Brazil and Argentina are favourites.

“Then France, who are the current champions. Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, England and Belgium are also close.

“If we’re not going to win it, I want Argentina to win.

“A world-class player like Messi has to retire with a World Cup, in what would be his last World Cup.

“Although, I think he could play in the next one.

“But I prefer that Spain win, of course. And also maybe Uruguay for Luis Suarez, too.”

Spain will go against Costa Rica as their first game on November 23.
