FFF president prefers that Lloris doesn’t wear the rainbow armband

A host of European nations will be wearing the rainbow armband in support of the LGBTQ+ community in the upcoming World Cup

Recently, there have been a lot of talks surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in Qatar and the many footballers that have protested against Qatar’s laws in this matter and now France Football Federation’s president has chimed in on the matter.

The Netherlands,

Belgium

, Denmark,

France

,

Germany

, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, England and Wales have all taken part in a campaign called One Love to “send a message” towards discrimination in Qatar.

Speaking to the L’Equipe, Le Great, who is the head of FFF, wasn’t that keen on the campaign and said that he’ll “discuss it” with France’s captain Lloris.

"We're going to discuss it. But I'd rather [Lloris] doesn't do it. We’re playing in a country which we must respect. But if we have to wear it, we'll wear it.

"It's not that I'm not in favour of this armband, but sometimes I think we want to lecture others so much that we should also look at what's happening in our country."

The tension about the matter was taken to new extremes when Qatar’s World Cup ambassador Khalid Salman described homosexuality as "damage in the mind" on German tv. FIFA also hasn’t been helping matters lately as the called every nation to "focus on football" rather than protesting about Qatari law.
