Bayern clears Alphonso Davies to play for Canada in Qatar World Cup

After suffering a hamstring injury in the Bavarians' 3-2 victory at Hertha Berlin, Julian Nagelsmann revealed the Canadian might miss the World Cup due to his injury. However, the latest statement from the club reveals the youngster will trip to Qatar with his country.

was among the key players that helped Canada reach the first World Cup appearance since 1986. However, concerns about his availability aroused as he sustained a hamstring injury in

Bayern Munich

’s away Bundesliga victory at Hertha as their boss revealed he had suffered "at least one fibre tear".

However, the latest statement from the club reveals although the Canadian will miss Bayern’s 2 remaining matches before the World Cup, he will be able to play for

Canada

in their first World Cup in more than 30 years.

The statement reads:

"FC Bayern will be without Alphonso Davies for the two remaining Bundesliga games prior to the winter break.

"The 22-year-old full-back suffered a hamstring strain in the 3-2 win at Hertha BSC on Saturday. The diagnosis was confirmed by the German record champions' medical unit.

"The Canada international's participation in the World Cup in Qatar is not at risk."
