Arteta plays down Bukayo Saka's ankle injury ahead of World Cup

After a draw at Southampton halted the Gunners' victory run, they bounced back perfectly with a precious home victory over Nottingham Forest. However, Bukayo Saka’s first-half injury made both Arsenal and England fans sweat.

Despite a comfortable 5-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Arsenal suffered an injury blow as they lost

for injury just 27 minutes into the match with

Mikel Arteta

being forced to replace the England international with Reiss Nelson. With

England's World Cup

campaign starting on November 21 vs Iran, Arteta's post-match injury update calmed down the injury crisis at England.

Asked if Saka's injury could rule him out of the World Cup, Arteta said:

"Hopefully not. It was a bad kick, he was limping but I don't see it further than that. It was both [foot and ankle], he got kicked a few times."

Arsenal’s

Sunday victory extended the Gunners' stay at top of the Premier League table with a 2-point advantage to the second-placed

. Gabriel Martinelli opened up for the Gunners early in the fifth minute, heading in Saka’s marvelous cross as the Gunners continued to dominate the game.

Although the home side was unable to build on their early lead in the first half, they returned the second half in style with a brace from Reiss Nelson securing them a 3-0 victory by 52nd-minute. Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard's goals provided the Gunners a comfortable 5-0 victory.
