Joe Shields joins Chelsea as co-director of recruitment and talent
After weeks of speculation, Joe Shields finally joins Chelsea as their new co-director of recruitment and talent, as Boehly continues to overhaul Chelsea’s structure since he took over in the summer.
Just weeks after Graham Potter’s appointment as the new
Chelseahead coach which was followed by another addition to the Chelsea staff that saw Laurence Stewart appointed as the technical director last week, Todd Boehly has now confirmed the appointment of Joe Shields as their new co-director of recruitment and talent.
Talking to the club’s official website about the appointment, Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali stated that:
"Joe is another great addition to Chelsea, and we’re thrilled to have him on board. We have a clear plan and will adopt a modern and data-driven philosophy, focused on elite emerging talent. We’re assembling a deep and collaborative management team who are eager to build a continued sustained winner at Chelsea. Joe has a great track record and understanding of the game and emerging talent. We know we have another strong leader and a team player who will help us continue to build our world-class football organisation."
While Boehly is assembling his recruitment team, in the meantime, Chelsea has to compete in the Premier League and get into
Champions Leagueplaces which will be imperative to their recruitment for the next summer. They will be meeting Potter’s old club,
Brightonthis weekend.
