Benzema believes he'll never be as good as Zidane and Ronaldo

Karim Benzema, who has just won the Ballon d'Or, claims he will never pass Real Madrid legends Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the history of the club.

After scoring 44 goals in La Liga and the Champions League last season, the

France

international has been chosen as the best player in the world for 2022 at 34.

Karim Benzema

has spent 13 wonderful years at the

Santiago Bernabeu

and is now club captain, but he admits that he will never be able to match the efforts of famous characters with whom he has played and been coached.

In an interview with

Real Madrid

’s official website, Benzema said:

“I’m not above Zizou and Ronaldo, we’re different. They’re role models and I can’t do what they did on the pitch, but they help me try to do it. I’m never going to reach their level. They won the Ballon d’Or and I’ve just done that. But it’s difficult to reach their level.”

Benzema, the Blancos striker, finds no reason to compare himself to legends of the past, saying,

“I’ve fulfilled the three dreams I had in my life: to buy a house for my mother, to sign for Real Madrid because it’s the greatest club in the world and the third was the Ballon d’Or. I’m really proud of my work.”
