Leeds United 0-1 Arsenal; Saka to Rescue the Premier League lead

In a delayed eventful game at Elland Road, Arsenal faced Leeds United as the Gunners tended to continue their lead to the Premier League table with an away victory.

Arsenal's

Sunday trip to visit

Leeds United

at Elland Road was brought to a halt as "a power cut" caused serious issues with the referee's communications systems. However, after the problem was resolved, the referee ordered the re-continue of the game.

Bukayo Saka

broke the deadlock in the 35th minute after a brilliant one-two with Odegaard and beating Meslier past the goal.

Arsenal had most of the possession in the first half with Leeds unable to show any real threats for Aaron Ramsdale before the two sides went into the dressing room with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

Leeds United came with a different attitude in the second half as they dominated the Gunners, finally being awarded

a penalty kick

in 64th-minute that

Patrick Bamford

missed. Arsenal managed to hold on to their early lead in the remainder of the game as they continued their stay at top of the Premier League. Leeds United couldn’t score the equalizer they were seeking as they missed three big chances in the second half by Aaronson and Bamford that were denied by

Aaron Ramsdale

, compared to one that Arsenal had whole the match.

In the 92nd minute, VAR intervened to rule out the red card referee gave to

Gabriel

, changing it to yellow after the Brazilian centre-back kicked Bamford after the striker committed a foul.

Leeds United

will remain in the 15th place with 9 points with Arsenal continuing their lead to the Premier League with 27 points.
