After suffering a thigh injury while on international duty with France, the 23-year-old has not featured for Barcelona since their 3-0 win over Elche on September 17.

Xavi

said earlier this week that the centre-back could play against Real Madrid on Sunday.

In addition to Kounde, who has started five times for Barcelona since his formal registration in late August, Memphis Depay, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Hector Bellerin, and Ronald Araujo have all been ruled out.

Xavi's team drew 3-3 with Inter on Wednesday, leaving their Champions League ambitions hanging by a thread, but they are level on points with Madrid at the top of LaLiga after winning seven straight games, six of which were clean sheets.
