Portugal 0-1 Spain: La Roja clinch spot in Nations League finals

Spain reaches the Nations League Finals with a dramatic victory against Portugal on Tuesday night in Braga.

to ensure the top spot in their Nations League group thanks to Alvaro Morata's late goal. Spain needed three points to win Group A2. Portugal after a 4-0 win against the Czech Republic on Saturday only needed a draw to qualify for the semi-final.

Spain manager Luis Enrique decided to leave Barcelona's Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Pedri, and Jordi Alba on the bench.

Portugal was the better team during the match but a long ball into the box from Dani Carvajal in the 88th minute was headed by Nico Williams across goal and Morata smashed it into the net.

Diogo Jota could open the scoring in the 32nd minute but Unai Simon saved his team with a brilliant one-handed save. Ronaldo was one-on-one with Spain's goalkeeper in the 47th minute but he failed to force his shot past the keeper.

Morata was also close to scoring in the 76th minute but Portugal's goalkeeper denied him with a top save.

Spain finished in the top spot with 11 points and Portugal finished in second place with 10 points ahead of Switzerland and Czech Republic.

, and the Netherlands are in the Nations League semi-final which will be held next year in the Netherlands. Spain has reached the final four of the Nations League for the second consecutive edition of the tournament.
