Salihamidzic: Nagelsmann knows that he has the full backing of Bayern

Julian Nagelsmann's second Bundesliga season at Bayern Munich has started slowly, but the team has only lost one game thus far.

Hasan Salihamidzic

, Bayern Munich's sporting director, has promised that the club will "fully back" coach

Julian Nagelsmann

as he attempts to improve the team's play during the international break.

Bayern Munich

had a rough stretch recently, starting with three consecutive draws in the Bundesliga and ending with a 1-0 loss to Augsburg before many of Nagelsmann's players left for international service.

Bayern is now in fifth place, five points behind early leaders Union Berlin, and will play

Bayer Leverkusen

in their upcoming match. Leverkusen, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season, have gotten off to a considerably worse start than Bayern, with only one victory to their name so far this year.

However, all eyes are on Bayern because they have won the last ten Bundesliga titles in a row, and Salihamidzic has conceded the team's poor start is a problem that needs to be fixed. Salihamidzic said to Bild am Sonntag newspaper:

"Julian is very clear. He and his team of coaches know exactly what to do. "Above all, Julian knows that he has the full backing of FC Bayern, that doesn't have to be emphasised again and again."

It would be easy to refer to the transfer of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona as a reason why Bayern's shot conversion rate in the Bundesliga has dropped from 14.41 percent to 11.8 percent this season. It's possible, but Bayern also show signs of success in other areas. They have been unlucky, as they have struck the post seven times in seven games, which is three times more than any other team. They were denied a goal a total of 21 times by the posts throughout the course of 34 games last year.

The fact that Bayern has given up goals in two separate instances of individual error is concerning, given that they have done it only three times all season (2021-22).

Salihamidzic reported that Bayern's top brass had conferred with Nagelsmann about "all facets" of the team's start to the season, including the positive results in the Champions League group stage against Inter and Barcelona. After the team's lackluster performance in the derby against Augsburg, it's evident that Bayern wants to see more resolve from the players.

"We will appear differently after the international break. And I expect that too," Salihamidzic said. "Physical intensity, greed and the willingness to push yourself to the limit in every game are the prerequisites for success."
