Dortmund sporting director denied Reus World Cup danger rumors
Dortmund captain feels the danger of losing the World Cup again.
sporting director Sebastian Kehl dismissed rumors that
Marco Reusmight miss the World Cup due to injury.
Dortmund's captain suffered an injury during Saturday's Revierderby and had to leave the field in the first half. His initial condition, leaving the field in tears, did not look good and there were doubts that he would miss the Qatar World Cup like the 2014 World Cup. The German star has been ruled out of winning the World Cup due to an injury, but Dortmund's sports director assured that the captain of his team will not have a problem attending Qatar.
He said:
"It was a shock for us, too, but I can give a little 'all clear'. The examinations showed no fracture, just a lateral ligament injury at the ankle.
"[It is] not so difficult that the World Cup is in danger."
Dortmund boss, Edin Terzic, however, did not have a positive view of Reus' injury and told Sky Sports:
"It looks as if the ligaments were injured. Of course, he was very disappointed and was in a lot of pain."
The Revierderby match was held after two years with
Schalke's return to the Bundesliga, and Reus played his 250th Bundesliga game for Dortmund in a 1-0 win over their bitter rival.
