Nottingham Forest agree £42.5m deal for Wolves midfielder Gibbs-White
Morgan Gibbs-White, a midfielder for Wolves, has agreed to join Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £42.5m with add-ons.
The 22-year-old is expected to have a medical with the newly promoted Premier League team in the next 24 hours.
Forest will pay £25 million upfront for
Morgan Gibbs-White, with an additional £17.5 million available if he does well, plays a lot, and the club stays in the top division. Forest had three offers for Gibbs-White turned down. The last was £42 million, with £25 million upfront and £17 million in add-ons.
Forest's top midfield goal this summer has been to sign Gibbs-White. Forest manager
Steve Cooper
knows the
England
U21 player well because he played for
Swanseaon loan in the 2020/21 season. The Wolves academy graduate has played every minute of the club's two Premier League games this season. However, another midfielder, Matheus Nunes, joined the team in a club-record deal on Wednesday, which may help soften the blow of his likely departure.
Gibbs-White was one of the best players in the Championship last year. He was on loan to Sheffield United and helped them get to the semi-finals of the play-offs, where they lost to Forest.
