Atletico Madrid confident Cunha will stay amid Man Utd interest

Atletico Madrid is confident they will keep Matheus Cunha this summer amid Manchester United interest.

Reports suggest that

Manchester United

had direct talks with

Matheus Cunha's

agent in recent days and they are interested in signing Atletico Madrid forward.

It was reported that Atletico wants more than €50m to sell Cunha this summer but now GOAL claims that

Atletico Madrid

is not worried about the prospect of losing Cunha because he has a release clause believed to be more than €100 million.

GOAL says that Hakim Ziyech, Cody Gakpo, and Antony are other United targets for strengthening their attack. They also have been linked with Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic. They have already signed Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, and Christian Eriksen this summer but are still in the market for a new winger, striker, and midfielder.

The 23-year-old Cunha joined Atletico from Hertha Berlin in 2021. Cunha is under contract until 2026. He only scored seven goals in all competitions last season. Only eight of Cunha's 29 La Liga games last season were as a starter.

During his three-year spell at Hertha, he scored 13 goals in 40 games. Cunha has played for Brazil seven times but hasn't scored for his country.
