Atletico gets Morata injury boost as Getafe line-up gets revealed

Having a quiet summer preparing for the upcoming La Liga campaign, Atletico finds a huge boost ahead of their Monday La Liga opener against Getafe as Morata is cleared to play for the Rojiblancos.

Alvaro Morata

came back to

Atletico Madrid

after a successful two-year loan in Turin and scored a hat-trick in a friendly against his former side

Juventus

last weekend. However, an injury he picked up during the game grew some speculations that he might miss the match after he missed a training session on Thursday.

Mundo Deportivo

reports that Morata and

Axel Witsel

have returned to training and are eligible for selection ahead of Atletico's La Liga opener against Getafe, the latter suffered strep throat while missing their game against Juventus.

Centre-back Felipe has also rejoined the group training after missing most of the preseason. However,

Jose Maria Gimenez

continues to train alone due to a knock picked up before the Juventus match. It appears Simeone will begin with just the two strikers amid reports that he will start the season with

Antoine Griezmann

forming a trident with Morata and Joao Felix, it seems the Argentine coach has only picked two of them.

The outlet reports

Diego Simeone

's line-up for the

Getafe

is: Oblak, Molina, Savic, Witsel, Reinildo, Saúl; Llorente, Koke, Lemar; Joao Félix, and Morata.

Morata joined Atletico in 2018 from

Chelsea

on a loan deal that later become permanent. This past year, the 29-year-old played in all 48 of Juventus' competitive matches and supplied nine assists in addition to his 12 goals scored.
