Gabriel explains choice to snub Juve and praises William Saliba

Gabriel believes he's dedicated to Arsenal but admits it was pleasant to be linked with Barcelona and Juventus.

The Brazilian player joined the Gunners from

Lille

two years ago. He has become a key part of

Mikel Arteta

's new team.

Gabriel's play last season, in particular, caught the attention of some of Europe's biggest teams. However, even though

Arsenal

can't offer Gabriel Champions League games right now, the 24-year-old is still fully committed to his manager's rebuilding project.

He told

Sky Sports

, "It's always nice to get that kind of attention, but I'm focused on Arsenal." "I'm very glad to be here. I get along well with the other people on my team, and I care a lot about the project. "I am sure we can get a lot done with the project we have."

Last Friday, Arsenal's season got off to a very good start. Gabriel and the late-season return of

William Saliba

, who made a good debut, helped keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace. Saliba has been loaned out three times since joining the Gunners for £27 million from Saint Etienne in the summer of 2019. He has had to wait three years to play in a real game for the club.

The wait, however, seems to have been worth it. His performance at Selhurst Park and in pre-season was so good that it looks like he will be a permanent part of the team in the coming weeks. Gabriel said he would help Saliba get used to English football because he had been there for two years and could use that experience to help Saliba.
