Manchester City add Arsenal's Kieran Tierney to left-back shortlist

Kieran Tierney is on Manchester City's shortlist for a left-back this summer.

This summer,

Manchester City

want to get a new left-back, and 90min can confirm that

Kieran Tierney

of

Arsenal

is on their shortlist.

Pep Guardiola's team tried to sign Marc Cucurella earlier this summer but didn't want to pay his £55 million price tag. Instead, they watched him sign with Chelsea, which left them without a reliable left-back after

Oleksandr Zinchenk

o went to Arsenal.

Joao Cancelo is a right-back by trade, but he has spent most of his time on the left side of the defense. City wants to help defend their Premier League title by getting a natural fit.

City is considering a lot of different options, and sources have told 90min that Tierney is one of the names that has been talked about at the Etihad. Guardiola values Tierney's experience in the Premier League, but Arsenal has no plans to get rid of the Scotland international, even though they signed Zinchenko earlier this summer.

Tierney's injury forced Zinchenko to start the season at left-back, but Arsenal's plan has always been to give the Ukraine international minutes in his preferred midfield position, letting him play with the Scot.

City has been looking at a lot of different players because they know that getting Tierney would be hard and expensive. Alex Grimaldo of Benfica, who Arsenal was interested in, is also being looked at by the Premier League champions. City have also been given a chance to sign Renan Lodi of

Atletico Madrid

this summer.

City is also close to completing the signing of Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht. Like Zinchenko, Gomez started out as a forward before moving to left back. The 21-year-old Spaniard is supposed to go out on loan for the rest of the season, but City is said to be willing to keep him in the first team if they can't sign another left-back.
