Ben Mee Becomes Brentford's Fourth Major Summer Signing

Making 376 appearances for Burnley after arriving from Manchester City, the English centre-back left Turf Moor as his contract expired with the club this summer and joined Brentford on a two-year deal.

Brentford confirmed the transfer

today as the centre-back becomes Bee's fourth major summer signing after the arrivals of Aaron Hickey, Keane Lewis-Potter, and Thomas Strakosha. Burnley reportedly beat several Premier League clubs to sign the defender.

Ben Mee

made 376 appearances for Burnley, scoring 12 goals in the 11 years he spent at the club. However, He was one of 14 players released by the Clarets following their relegation to the Championship in 2021-22.

Suffering a broken leg in

Burnley's

defeat to Leicester in March, Ben Mee missed the last 13 games of last season after as many believe that was effective in his side's relegation to the Championship last summer.  Despite that, the veteran will remain a Premier League player next season as the 32-year-old defender signs for Brentford, a strong signing for Thomas Frank's side considering the defender’s experience, leadership, and ability.

Brentford

will begin their 2022-23 Premier League season with an away game against Leicester on Sunday, August 7. Thomas Frank's Bees then host Erik ten Hag's Manchester United at the Brentford Community Stadium a week later on August 13 and face rivals Fulham in the first West London derby of the season at Craven Cottage on August 20.
