Ranieri praised Mourinho for Dybala transfer
The Argentine star decided to leave Juve as a free agent and joined Roma.
Despite receiving offers from
Interand
Napoli, the Argentinian striker decided to move to
Romaafter the end of his contract with Juve. He also earns less than half the salary he earned at Juve in Rome and his transfer has been controversial. Now Ranieri, who has been in charge of Roma for two periods, praised Jose Mourinho for the transfer.
“First of all, I want to congratulate Mourinho. I think he put in a good word for the deal to go through.”
“Surely Dybala chose Roma also because they have Mourinho coaching them.”
He also claimed that Roma's first goal should be to return to the Champions League. He added:
“And I don’t think it is fair of me to say which objectives Roma must now aim for,
“I will only say that with their potential I think Roma can qualify for the Champions League.”
Ranieri led Roma between 2009 and 2011 and also in 2019. In the 2019-10 season, he missed Serie A by one point and also reached the Coppa Italia final, but lost both trophies to Inter under Mourinho.
