Raul Gonzalez rejected coaching offers from Espanyol and Leeds United

After leading the Real Madrid U19 side to glory in the 2019-20 UEFA Youth League, the Spaniard has become one of the highest-rated young coaches in Spanish football. Although the Los Blancos icon had the chance to coach elsewhere, he reportedly has decided to stay put at Castilla.

According to

Marca

, Raul Gonzalez had to reject several offers from across Europe to stay with Real Madrid Castilla. Castilla are in pre-season training as they will aim for a promotion to the second division, with Raul as the man to mastermind it. The former Spain international reportedly had an offer from Espanyol towards the end of the season.

The outlet also reports that Raul had offers from Leeds United and Eintracht Frankfurt. However, considering the situation of the two clubs this seems unlikely to be true as Leeds had only recently sacked Marcelo Bielsa to appoint Jesse Marsch while

Eintracht Frankfurt

has just won the Europa League under Oliver Glasner.

During his 16-year spell in Real Madrid as a player,

Raul Gonzalez

could score 323 goals which was a record that brought him the title of club's second all-time top goalscorer. Being famous as one of the greatest and most consistent strikers of his generation, Raul was given the nickname "El Ferrari", or "The Ferrari," thanks to his technical skills, elegance, goalscoring, and performances. Throughout his career, he was acknowledged as a player with leadership and discipline. His former teammates, namely the former England center-back Rio Ferdinand, considered him an intelligent player who can brilliantly exploit gaps or draw out defenders to create space for his teammates.
