Chelsea are getting closer to signing Nathan Ake from Manchester City

Chelsea is getting closing on signing Manchester City defender Nathan Ake.

According to the Athletic,

Chelsea

and Manchester City's negotiation over the transfer of

Nathan Ake

is in an advanced stage and the blues are hopeful they will reach an agreement in the coming days. City has demanded more than £50 million for the Dutch defender.

Chelsea already has reached an agreement with City over Raheem Sterling and the England international has already passed his medical in London.

The 27-year-old Ake joined the reigning Premier League champs for £40 million from relegated Bournemouth in 2020. His City contract runs through 2025.

His debut season was marred by injury, and he only appeared 13 times. Ake made 27 appearances for City as a center-back and left-back backup last season, albeit he is still fourth choice center-back after Ruben Dias, John Stones, and Aymeric Laporte.

Ake was linked with West Ham and Newcastle earlier in the summer but both clubs were not willing to pay City’s asking price. Are recently said he want stay at City and prove his worth but reportedly he is open to joining Chelsea this summer if both clubs reach an agreement.

Ake is a Chelsea academy graduate and played in 17 matches for the first team before leaving them in 2017. He spends 2014 until 2017 on loan with Reading, Watford, and Bournemouth.
