Netherlands’ Miedema tests positive for coronavirus

The Netherlands have to deal with a huge blow since forward Vivianne Miedema’s Covid-19 test has turned out positive.

The Dutch drew the clash with

Sweden

in the opening clash of the group stage at Euro 2022. Now they are getting ready to go against Portugal on Wednesday, and they feel the importance of a win.

However, they have been dealt a huge blow as their top goalscorer

Miedema

has tested positive for Covid-19.

A national team statement read: "

Vivianne Miedema has unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore be in isolation for the next few days.

"When she no longer has any symptoms and tests negative, she can rejoin the selection."

The Netherlands hope to have her back as soon as possible as they aim for a top finish in Group C.

Their final clash of this stage is against Switzerland on Sunday, and Mark Parsons, the English coach, hopes to have his star striker to get the point they need.

Miedema is one of the biggest names at Euro 2022 to test positive for coronavirus after Jackie Groenen, Wubben-Moy and Lea Schuller.
