England scores eight goals in Women's Euro 2022 to set new records

England women's football team set a new record in the first half against Norway on Monday at Euro 2022.

England

scored six goals in the first half against Norway to become the first team to have scored six goals in the first half of a European Championship match. They scored another two goals in the second half to win 8-0.

The previous record was set by France on Sunday. They scored five goals against Italy in the first half.

England also becomes the first-ever team to score seven or more goals in a full game in

UEFA Women's

or men's Euros history. The only other women's teams to have scored six in Euros clash were England when they beat Scotland with six goals in 2017 and Germany, who beat the Lionesses 6-2 in 2009.

Beth Mead and Ellen White scored two each and Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp also scored in the first half. Mead complete her hattrick in the second half and Alessia Russo scored the eighth goal.

Sarina Wiegman's side also beat Austria with one goal in their opening game of the tournament. They will face Northern Ireland in their final group stage match.

Beth Mead who scored two goals in the first half now been involved in 26 goals for England under Sarina Wiegman.

Euro 2022 ends at Wembley Stadium with the final, which takes place on Sunday, July 31.
