The

national player joined the Reds in January 2020 after signing a contract with the club, however, he was unable to get into the first-team lineup.

Minamino played for Liverpool for a total of 55 games over the course of 2.5 years and scored 14 goals during that time. After assisting Liverpool in winning the Premier League for the first time in their history during the 2019–20 season, he went on to contribute to the club's victory in both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup during his final season on Merseyside.

Monaco are reportedly paying €15 million (£12.9m) for his transfer, with a further €3 million (£2.6m) potentially handed out in incentives. The transfer cost for his move to France has not been verified by either club, but it is believed that Monaco is paying this amount.

Minamino has committed to playing for Monaco for the next four years after signing a contract with the club. Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 last season.
