Details revealed as Monaco boss confirms deal for Liverpool's Minamino

Philippe Clement, the manager of Monaco, has said that Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino is about to sign with the Ligue 1 team.

A deal was made between the two clubs on Tuesday.

Leeds

and

Fulham

were also interested in getting the Japanese player, but Monaco beat them out. The team from

Monaco

will pay

Liverpool

a fee of €15m (€12.9m) plus an extra €3m (€2.6m) in add-ons, according to

90min

.

After a friendly match on Saturday, Clement told AFP that Minamino's arrival was coming soon. He said, "I'm very happy, because I've known him for a long time." "He was one of our top choices. Everyone here thinks he has the skills to help the team in some way.

"He already has the experience and has done a lot of good things at Salzburg, which is a style similar to ours and has a lot of competition, just like Liverpool. Because of this, this is a chance." The 27-year-old was signed by

Red Bull Salzburg

two and a half years ago. He only played 894 minutes for the Reds in the 2021/22 season, but he still contributed ten goals and one assist in all competitions. Last week, he was told he could leave Anfield.

Sadio Man

e also left Liverpool for Bayern Munich, but since January, Luis Diaz, Fabio Carvalho, and Darwin Nunez have come in and made Minamino less important.
