Real Madrid unveiled Antonio Rudiger at Santiago Bernabeu

The German defender will inherit the Isco shirt.

Real Madrid

have unveiled

Antonio Rudiger

as the club's new signing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The German defender decided to face a new challenge and left the Premier League for La Liga to join Real Madrid as a free agent. Real Madrid announced that number 22 will go to Rudiger, while he wore number 2 at

Chelsea

.

Isco previously wore the number 22 shirt, but the Spanish midfielder will leave Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer after winning his fourth Champions League. Previously, between 2010 and 2015, Angel Di Maria was number 22.

Xabi Alonso wore the shirt in the 2009-10 season, and in the late 1990s, he wore the No. 22 Real shirt by Christian Karembeu.

Rudiger said:

"Madrid have very good players, particularly in my position, but I feel safe and I'm going to add competitiveness, because that is very good for a team. It's a great challenge.

"I can promise that I will give it my all. I want to win all the titles we can. Hala Madrid and nothing more."
