Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk signed Pirlo as their new manager

Since being sacked by the Old Lady, the Azzurri icon has not been unemployed as manager, but he will return to the dugout in Turkey.

Andrea Pirlo, a legend in Italy, has been named

Fatih Karagumruk

's new head coach.

After being fired by

Juventus

in 2021, the 43-year-old takes the next step in his coaching career by joining the Turkish club.

He has been out of business since then, but he is eager to return to the sidelines and improve on Karagumruk's surprising eighth-place performance in the

Super Lig

season of 2021-22.

The club announced the deal on Sunday, stating that Pirlo has agreed to a one-year contract and will be introduced on Tuesday.

The statement reads: “The world-famous footballer recently coached Juventus, one of the most important clubs in Europe.

"Having also had

Champions League

experience with Juventus, Pirlo signed the contract that made him a member of Karagumruk for one year, starting on 1 July.”

“Pirlo's press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the place and time will be announced later by our club. We welcome our coach and wish him success.”

Pirlo was thrown into the fire as a manager with Juve, despite never having led a squad at the top level.

However, throughout his tenure at Allianz Stadium, the Italian has a 65 percent victory percentage, with 34 triumphs, 10 draws, and eight defeats.

Despite this, the Old Lady's nine-year run of Scudetto victories came to an end under Pirlo's watch, as Inter won their first championship in 10 years.

Pirlo was supplanted by Massimiliano Allegri before the 2021-22 season after failing to finish in the top four and being knocked out of the Champions League by Porto.
