Deschamps relying on Griezmann, Kante for Qatar World Cup

Though Antoine Griezmann is available, Didier Deschamps will be without N'Golo Kante for France's Nations League match against Austria.

Didier Deschamps

thinks that

Antoine Griezmann

and

N'Golo Kante

will be at their best by the time the World Cup comes around. France plays Austria in the Nations League on Friday.

After a disappointing time in Barcelona, Griezmann moved back to

Atletico Madrid

. However, he did not immediately get back to his old form, and for the first time, there were concerns about his fitness.

In his career, he has mostly avoided injuries. In 2019-20, he only missed two games with

Barcelona

, but he missed 15 games with Atleti because of muscle injuries and being forced to be alone because of Covid-19.

With that in mind, Deschamps is sure that Les Bleus's most important attacker will be back to his best. Deschamps said, "I know him well." "Playing for Les Bleus has often been better for him. It's not one of his best times.

"It is partly physical and partly mental. He got hurt for the first time this season. I don't mean to say that he's tired. I know what he's like and how he thinks. He does not baulk. This is not his best time, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in what he can do. I'm well aware of what he can bring to the group."

Kylian Mbappe and Adrien Rabiot, who didn't play in Monday's draw with Croatia, will also miss Friday's game in Vienna because of injuries still bothering them. The 31-year-old has spent a lot of time on the sidelines for his club over the past three seasons. Constant hamstring problems have kept him from playing regularly for

Chelsea

.

After missing almost two months of football last season, Deschamps admits that Kante's fitness needs to be managed, but he still hopes he can count on him. "When he's at his best, every coach wants him on his team," Les Bleus's manager said. "When it comes to our deadlines, let's make sure he has everything he needs.

"Many players have played 60 games in a season. At some point, organizations suffer a little more. Thomas Tuchel, his coach at Chelsea, would like to have him a bit more. You need to deal with it. "He's there, and I'm here."
