Ragnick confirms: Cavani will not be in Manchester United next season

Edinson Cavani has only had a few appearances for Manchester United this season, and his exit was highly anticipated.

Ralf Rangnick revealed that Edinson Cavani would be making his final appearance for

Manchester United

in Sunday's game against Crystal Palace.

The 35-year-old, who is the all-time leading scorer for Paris Saint-Germain, left the

Ligue 1

heavyweights in October 2020 and joined United.

Cavani scored 10 goals in 26

Premier League

matches in his first season, but he has only played in sporadic appearances this season, netting only twice in the league before Saturday's match against Crystal Palace in south London.

Cavani was the only player in interim coach Rangnick's line-up at Selhurst Park who would not be with the Red Devils when new head coach Erik ten Hag takes over.

"Out of our starting XI, there will be 10, apart from Edi Cavani, who will still be playing for this club next season," Rangnick told MUTV.

Hannibal Mejbri, 19, was included in the roster, who were watched from the stands by Ten Hag, finished a disappointing season.

Rangnick pushed United's players to secure the win that would guarantee them a sixth-place finish.

"I presume they'd much rather play in the Europa League than the Conference League," Rangnick said.
