Magalhaes happy at Arsenal despite Barcelona interest

Gabriel Magalhaes admitted that he’s quite “happy” with the Gunners and it feels like home there after reports suggested that the Blaugrana are keen on making a move for him in the summer transfer window.

Gabriel Magalhaes

is keen on being included in

Tite

’s squad for the

World Cup

in Qatar, notwithstanding poor performance in

Arsenal

’s losses against

Crystal Palace

and Brighton.

Nonetheless, the 24-year-old is still highly-regarded for the club and country after moving to the Premier League like a duck to the water when joined in 2020 from Lille.

He had a significant impact on

Mikel Arteta

and Barcelona’s Xavi has been eyeing the Brazilian centre-back for a move in the summer.

Blaugrana’s media reports claimed that the Catalans are willing to give the Gunners three players for the £27million signing and the players include Memphis Depay, Neto and Riqui Puig.

Gabriel, on the other hand, insisted that he is committed to Arsenal and wants to build on his first two seasons with Mikel Arteta’s side.

“It’s been a real challenge here and I am more and more settled every day,"

Gabriel told Premier League Productions.

"I feel better and better with each passing game. At the same time, we know we all can’t be perfect in every match. We do make mistakes.

“But I feel good, I feel at home at Arsenal. It’s a great squad to be a part of and together I am sure we can achieve a lot. I am very happy here.”

Gabriel has been self-critical of his display recently and his attitude has helped him be of great value to Arteta.

Following the 3-2 victory over Watford in March, the former Lille player was expecting criticism from his manager.

He tweeted:

"I just have to prove to myself what I'm capable of!"

Gabriel has been enduring a bumpy road recently after being exposed in the 3-0 loss against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal are not willing to cash in on their defender this summer, notwithstanding Barca’s interest in acquiring his services. He helped his side keep 13 clean sheets in 27 outings in the Premier League with Ben White’s assistance.

After

Xavi

joined the club, they have been busy in the transfer market, having penned with

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

,

Ferran Torres

and

Adama Traore

on loan in January.

Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and Franck Kessie from AC Milan will join on free transfer this summer when their contracts expire.
