€1million will be donated to help Ukrainian children, according to the European football’s governing body.

Aleksander Ceferin

, the UEFA president, believes that they have a duty to help keep the Ukrainian children safe as Russia is invading Ukraine.

Russia invaded the country on Thursday and the fight is only escalating.

Ukrainian people are going to neighboring countries for refuge and the UEFA’s Foundation for Children have decided to donate €1million.

They also plan to provide a fund of €100,000 for helping children and refugees who are in Moldova.

"

Children are very vulnerable during conflicts and it is our duty to help defend their fundamental rights and their health,

" said Ceferin, chairman of the foundation's board of trustees.

"Thanks to the solidarity of European football and the support of our partners, we will be able to provide some of the assistance that children urgently need in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries."

The package of the help also includes medicines and supplies for children’s hospital in Ukraine.

This children’s Foundation was built in 2015 for defending the rights of children and helping them.
