Bayern’s Sule agrees to join Dortmund as a free agent

A switch to the Premier League for the German player had been mooted, but he is determined to stay put in the Bundesliga when taking on a new challenge.

Niklas Sule

is on the verge of departing

Bayern Munich

when his deal reaches its end and will join

Borussia Dortmund

. The Germany international is not interested in making a move to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old has chosen not to pen new deals with Bayern Munich as he is ready to take on a new challenge.

Speculations suggested that he may go to England, with Newcastle and

Chelsea

interested in signing with him. However, Sule is keen on remaining in the Bundesliga and penning a four-year deal with BVB.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, told the club’s official website of sealing the services of Sule:

“We are pleased that we were able to sign a German national team player in Niklas Sule and retain him for four years.

“Niklas has shown us in discussions that he is very interested in Borussia Dortmund.

“He has a lot of experience, calmness in the build-up game, and the necessary physique to take the next step with us from the summer.”

Sule joined Bayern in 2017 from Hoffenheim. He featured in 159 games and contributed to four Bundesliga title victories.

He has represented his country on 37 occasions, won the FB-Pokal twice, formed part of a Champions League success in 2019-20, and helped his side with UEFA Super and Club World Cup honors.

He did not agree to sign a new contract with Bayern and according to his agent, money was not a factor in his decision to leave and join Dortmund
