Al Hilal thrash Al Jazira 6-1 to book semi against Chelsea
A Hilal will lock horns with the European Champions Blues in the semi-finals of the World Cup after vanquishing Al Jazira 6-1.
Al Jazira, who are the 2020-21 UAE Pro League champions scored the opener through Abdoulay Diaby 14 minutes into the game. However, goals from Odion Ighalo and Matheus Pereira gave the lead to Al Hilal before the second half.
Their lead was then extended with their impressive performance in the second half. Mohamed Kanno, Salem Al-Dawsari, Moussa Marega and Andre Carrillo all met the target for their side and helped Al Hilal seal a 6-1 win against their rivals.
They will now face European counterparts Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition on February 9, while Al Jazira are going to play Monterrey in the play-off of the fifth place.
