Cameroon boss happy with their AFCON run: "We need to stay ambitious"

After progressing unbeaten to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, Cameroon national team boss Antonio Conceicao shared his sense of satisfaction.

The Indomitable Lions won two matches and drew one, for a total of seven points from three games in the

AFCON

After that, Cameroon defeated the tournament' underdogs Comoros 2-1 to get to the top eight, where they met Gambia, a competitive team. 

Despite a valiant effort from The Gambia, particularly in the first half, Cameroon advanced to the semi-finals after picking up two goals in the second half. 

Cameroon's toughest challenge will come next when they face

Egypt

, which have already eliminated Ivory Coast and Morocco.

The duel between the two African heavyweights will commence at Olembe Stadium on Thursday night, February 3rd. 

Antonio Conceicao

discussed the match and his quality of play during the competition, expressing delight in their accomplishments. 

"I am very happy with my team since the start of the tournament, we will now play a very difficult and competitive game," said the 60-year-old coach.

"The players did great, they followed my game plans, and we will keep working to reach our goal.

"Our next opponents are Egypt, they are the most crowned national team in Africa. We know how strong they are and we know we will have to keep improving.

"We need to stay ambitious to reach the final, which is our goal from the start.

"We've been here for thirty days, away from our families, which is not easy. The players are fully focused on reaching the goal we set."
