Sofiane Boufal: Morocco will spare no effort against Egypt

The Angers SCO winger is confident he can give all he has in the battle against Egypt to make the supporters pleased.

Egypt

reserved a spot in the quarterfinals of the

Africa Cup of Nations

after vanquishing Ivory Coast in an exciting penalty shootout.

Morocco

, meanwhile, made their way to the last eight of the competition when they beat Malawi in the last round with a 2-1 result.

The clash will happen on Sunday, January 30, at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé. The winner of the game will take on either Cameroon or The Gambia in the semi-finals. It is going to be a replay of the AFCON quarterfinals in 2017 when the Pharaohs won the game courtesy of Mahmoud Kahraba’s goal.

Sofiane Boufal

did not feature in the tournament in 2017 as he was dealing with a knee injury; however, he is now set to rewrite history this time around, promising to do his best against Egypt to reserve a spot in the AFCON semi-final for the first time since 2004.

Coach Halilhodzic asked me to be more efficient, and that’s what I’m working on to help my team, and I think things are going in the right direction,”

Boufal said in the pre-match press conference.

“Today we are doing a good job without pressure, and the most important thing is to give everything we can in all the matches to make the Moroccan fans happy.

“We were behind in two games and were able to come back, and that shows the mental strength we have.

“We know that the Moroccan people expect a lot from us, and we will spare no effort against Egypt to make them happy,”

he concluded.
