Barcelona looking to bring back Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo

Barcelona are interested in bringing in a left-back to bolster their defense and furnish a challenge for Jordi Alba.

Several potential options have been suggested, notably Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico and Valencia's Jose Gaya.

According to

Marca

, another name linked to a comeback to Camp Nou is Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo. He is a product of La Masia and left for Lisbon in 2016.

Despite being a crucial player for Benfica, the 26-year-old's contract at the Estadio de Luz lapses in the summer of 2023, and he's thought to be accessible on the market.

The Blaugrana has long wanted to get him back to Catalonia, but they dropped their pursuit last summer after getting a €30 million price tag.

Because of the remaining time on his agreement, the asking price has been reduced significantly, and it is thought that the player is keen to return to

LaLiga

.
