Comoros goalie criticizes AFCON: "Just give Cameroon their trophies"
During the Africa Cup of Nations, Salim Ben Boina of the Comoros national team has slammed CAF's 'biased' protocols, calling it "outrageous."
In their
AFCONdebut, the Coelacanths stunned the championship by defeating Ghana 3-2 in the final group stage group match and progressing as one of the best third-placed teams.
They had to confront hosts Cameroon in the Round of 16, but many people thought the game was unjust since Comoros goalie
Ali Ahamada
was not allowed to play despite his recuperation from COVID-19.
Ahmada was all set to play in the game, but he was surprised to learn that CAF had denied him entry, stating that he would have to wait five days after his recovery to reunite with his team.
As a result, his teammate
Salim Ben Boina
was enraged, claiming that the system is biased towards Cameroon:
"They should just let Cameroon have their trophies now, this is
outrageous."
Ali was replaced by left-back
Chaker Alhadhur
, who amazed everyone by surrendering just two goals against Cameroon's ferocious onslaught.
The game concluded in a 2-1 loss for Comoros, with Cameroon progressing to the quarterfinals, where they will face Gambia, who eliminated Guinea in the Round of 16.
