Veron on how Inter managed Lukaku and Conte’s departure

Juan Sebastian Veron is hoping the Nerazzurri will win the Supercoppa Italiana battle against the Bianconeri and hails the Serie A champions for how they replaced Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter

and

Juventus

will lock horns in the Supercoppa Italiana tonight. Despite Inter boss

Simone Inzaghi

saying that ‘there are no favourites in Finals’, ex-Argentina midfielder

Juan Sebastian Veron

thinks the Nerazzurri will lift the trophy.

Inter are doing extraordinary things, they are deservedly the

Serie A

leaders and have lost only one game from 20. It’s not a coincidence,”

he told

Il Corriere dello Sport

.

“Also, playing at San Siro can be an advantage for them.”

Vice president of Estudiantes Veron netted the winner in the 2005 Supercoppa when Inter vanquished Juventus.

We won that game with the heart and soul. We had a strong group that had begun a winning path by winning the Coppa Italia a few months earlier,”

said the former midfielder.

He was asked why the Bianconeri are struggling this season.

“Allegri’s value can’t be questioned. Surely, losing Ronaldo before the end of the transfer window was a huge blow. Inter are now a step ahead of Juventus, as a team and as a group.

“I hope Inter. I think they are more solid and Juventus have some absentee that could have an impact.”

Veron also talked to

La Gazzetta dello Sport

, hailing how Inter managed a hard situation in the summer. They were struggling financially and they had to cash in on Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku to balance the books. Antonio Conte also departed the club.

They changed coach and they haven’t even felt it,”

he said.

“Actually, they have even improved. Nobody noticed Lukaku left because the group is united and they signed valuable players.”

Veron knows the Inter coach well as the duo have played at Lazio.

“He has matured and made the right experience as the Lazio coach. It’s complicated to coach a top club, but he makes everything look so easy.

“There will be tough times and we’ll have to see how Inter will react, but we can already say that Inzaghi added something to Conte’s Inter. More possession and less counter-attack

.”

Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala are going to meet at San Siro, although the Bianconeri star starts on the bench.

They are very different,”

said Veron.

“Maybe, for the quality he has, Dybala can do something more, while Lautaro has always been decisive even if he’s been in Italy for fewer years. They are two top players and Argentina count on them.”
