The Algeria national team captain talked about his side’s determination in the AFCON this year.

The champions’ captain,
Riyad Mahrez
, talked in the press conference and reaffirmed what his team’s purpose is. They aim to reassert their dominance.
“
We want to make our country and people proud,”
Mahrez said.
“
We came to Cameroon to perform as well as we did in 2019,”
he added.
Mahrez then talked about the European clubs’ pressure on FIFA and the Confederation of African Football to postpone the AFCON. He insisted that they would not have been successful in keeping players from representing their countries.
“
Our clubs had no opinion, because the Africa Cup of Nations is a big tournament like the Euros or the Copa America,”
he concluded.
