De Gea on Man Utd’s “strange” managerial situation
The Spain international has revealed that he thinks it is a “bit strange” that the Red Devils squad are going to work under two interim managers in the 2021-22 season.
Michael Carrick
took over the role as a caretaker after
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
was sacked, but
Ralf Rangnick
will arrive as a temporary interim manager until the end of the season.
Notwithstanding the doubts in the dugout, results have been better since Solskjaer’s departure.
Manchester Uniteddrew the battle against
Chelseaon Sunday after an important victory over
Villarrealin the
Champions League, with Carrick likely to end his temporary tenure unbeaten.
Chelsea had more possession in the game and United were only able to make three shots, while they managed 24 themselves.
David de Gea
was also busy, pulling off five saves, including two coming in the first five minutes.
In the post-match interview, the goalkeeper revealed his concerns about the number of chances United allowed in the battle against Thomas Tuchel’s men.
"
I was feeling danger for nearly the whole game but we defended well. They missed big chances as well and they gave us a chance and we score,"
he told
Sky Sports
.
"It's not enough to draw but at the moment, the way we are, it's a good point."
The shot-stopper also commented on the managerial situation, insisting that the situation had been challenging recently.
"
It's a bit strange but we are professional players, we need to be training properly, playing properly. That's Manchester United, let's see what happens in the future,"
he said.
"But at the moment, we are a team and we feel like are all together, fighting for the same things.
When quizzed about Rangnick’s arrival, he added: "
Let's see what happens. Now we are with Carrick. He's done good. We won against Villarreal, we got a draw here today. Of course, we are still conceding many chances but the team is together.
