Mertens is happy playing for Napoli

Napoli’s Belgian star has talked about his ambitions for World Cup.

Napoli’s

star

Dries Mertens

has talked about his situation at the club and the possibility of his departure with the rumors about his links to a move to a Belgian club, insisting that he is happy at Napoli and that he doesn’t have any intentions of leaving Serie A, although he refuses to use the word never.

“You can never say never in football, but I am very happy at Napoli.”

The Belgium international has also talked about missing two Belgium games insisting that it was painful to him and that he missed being with his teammates and when he was asked about it, he said that it was :

“painful not to be there. I really missed my teammates and the atmosphere

.”

The 34-year-old striker strongly disagrees with people who say that the Qatar World Cup is Belgium’s last chance to win a big trophy and insists that there are a lot of young talents trying to find their place in the national team and although they have a really good generation playing right now he thinks that they will have a bright future ahead of them.

“We must stop saying that the World Cup in Qatar is the last chance for Belgium to win something. It might be for me and I hope to be there, but there’s a lot of talent coming through in the next generation too.”
