I’d bet €100 - Kehl confident Haaland remains put at Dortmund

The Westfalenstadion chief is hoping the Norway international keeps featuring in Bundesliga after the 2021-22 season is finished.

Borussia Dortmund

are prepared to “fight” for

Erling Haaland

’s stay, according to

Sebastian Kehl

, the club's head of first-team football, who believes the talisman will remain put.

The Norwegian is catching the eye of many top clubs around the world after impressing at Dortmund since his move from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.

Among the clubs interested in Haaland’s services are

Real Madrid

,

Paris Saint-Germain

and

Manchester City

. The 21-year-old met the back of the net 70 times in 69 matches for his side, but Kehl is hoping he will stay put.

The Dortmund chief told BILD of Haaland, whose contract at Westfalenstadion is until 2024:

"Of course, we are trying to give him the feeling that Borussia Dortmund continues to be a top address for him and that he can still develop here.

"Maybe we can still convince him. We will fight for him. We will try everything. The decision has not yet been made, but I would bet €100 [on him staying]."

Bayern Munich

,

Manchester United

,

Chelsea

and

Liverpool

have also been eyeing the star striker, whose buy-out clause is €75 million (£64m/$87m).

He may have more chances to win trophies if he departs the club but Dortmund think he is in the right place to develop and they are hopeful that Mino Raiola will make a wise decision.

"

The ball lies in Erling's court. I get on well with Raiola because we can assess each other well,"

BVB CEO Hans Joachim Watzke said in September.

"I know what makes him tick. It is not right to believe that Raiola is all about the money. He also has in mind what is best for Erling."

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Haaland’s stock has increased as he met the target 13 times in 10 matches for his side, with nine of them coming in Bundesliga. However, he is now suffering a hip injury that may keep him out until after the international break.
