David Raya will be sidelined for four months

Brentford’s David Raya will miss his side’s games for the next four months.

Brentford’s

goalkeeper

David Raya

was injured during his side’s Premier League clash against Leicester City in a clash with Leicester’s forward Ayoze Perez in a game that ended in a 2-1 defeat for Brentford.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been one of the most important players for his side in his debut in the Premier League, managing to record three clean sheets in nine games, but now he is going to be sidelined for at least four months suffering from ligament damage in his left knee although he managed to complete the game.

The club’s head of medical, Neil Greig, has talked about the player revealing that he is going to need a long time to recover from the injury.

Brentford head of medical Neil Greig told the club website:

"David has unfortunately sustained an injury to the Posterior Cruciate Ligament in his left knee. The issue will require a prolonged period of time to heal and for David to then regain function and strength around the joint.

"Positively, this type of injury usually heals well without the need for surgery. David has already begun using a brace specifically designed to aid this process.

"We anticipate the recovery period for an injury like this to be somewhere between four and five months, which will enable David to be back to his previous high levels well before the end of the season."
